The Vans Old Skool Tapered Model is Designed With a Reductive Approach

Available now in Spring-friendly “Marshmallow/Spectrum Blue” and “Mineral Grey/Spectrum Blue” colorways.

Given that the Vans Old Skool is such a clean-cut silhouette by nature, there’s plenty of room for it to be reimagined with different colorways or constructions. To ring in Spring with fresh energy, Vans has introduced the Old Skool Tapered — a model that’s been manufactured with a reductive mentality due to the removal of the padding that traditionally fits around the mouth.

Essentially a reconstruction of the original Old Skool, this newest design features all-canvas base layers. There are two colorways involved in this launch, one being the “Marshmallow/Spectrum Blue” option while the other sports a “Mineral Grey/Spectrum Blue” theme.

The former see its entire upper half coated in the sugary-inspired hue, while its bottom layer is primarily done up in a bright white. The foxing stripe which sits near the top of the midsole is coated with a “Spectrum Blue” exterior.

Its releasing sibling, while featuring an identical lower half, deviates with its canvas uppers being completely drenched in “Mineral Grey”.

If you’re thinking about adding these pairs toy your rotation, the Vans Old Skool Tapered “Retro Cali” Pack is available now through BILLY’s Tokyo for ¥8,250 (approx. $75 USD).
